A beautiful journal in collaboration with the watercolor artist Tori-Leigh. Featuring hand sewn pages, a jacquard fabric spine and edges, and a watercolor foxglove flower print on acid-free vellum textured card.
The name foxglove comes from the Old English expression "foxes glofa", meaning "fox's glove". Glove refers to the shape of the blossom, but the reason foxes were associated with this flower has been lost over time. Many assume it's because foxes often made their dens on wooded hillsides where the flowers grew, while old folk tales tell of foxes wearing the bell-shaped flowers on their paws to silence their steps while hunting, and that fairies marked the inside of the blossoms with their fingerprints.
In the Victorian Language of Flowers, foxgloves symbolized insincerity, deception, and hidden intentions, though they can also represent ambition or caution against trusting a pretty exterior that masks danger.
